Each body type responds differently to different exercises.

1. Cable Pull-Through Hip Thrusts:

Position a low pulley about one foot off the ground with a rope attachment. With your back facing the weight stack bend at your waist and reach between your legs and grab the rope with both hands. From this position pull the rope through your legs while at the same time raising your upper body and thrusting your hips forward.

Hold this position for a count of three while flexing your butt cheeks hard. Then return to the start and repeat.

2. Barbell Thrusts:

Using a flat bench to support your body, place the bar across your hips. Keeping your feet flat on the floor and thrust up as high as you can. Hold this position for a count of 3 then lower and repeat.

3. One And A Half Rep Single Leg Hip Thrusts:

Yes it’s a long name but it works. Lean your back against a flat bench and do hip thrusts one leg at a time with little or no weight. You will thrust up one full rep, come down half way, thrust up all the way then lower to the floor. This counts as one rep. You are doing 1.5 reps with each thrust.

4. Barbell Squats:

Squats are one of the best butt firming exercises you can do. Unfortunately exercises like the squat are often taught incorrectly, and it's stigmatized as difficult and dangerous.

Squats are NOT bad for your knees and they will not bulk up your butt! In fact it's been proven for decades that squats will help you shape, firm and tone your butt!

Here are a few tips for squats...

  • Do not place the bar too high or rest it on the base of your neck
  • Do not allow your body to tip forward on to your toes
  • Do not curve your back
  • Do not twist your body
  • Your chest comes up first, followed by your hips
  • Start with light weights and learn proper lifting form first

5. Dumbbell Lunges:

This is a very good butt toning exercise and it’s great for your quads, inner and outer thighs and hamstrings.

Pay close attention to the angle formed by your thigh and lower leg. Your knee should be directly over your ankle. Don't let your knee stray over your toes. Lunges can be done on a smith machine or with a barbell.

6. Straight Leg Dead-lifts:

This works your hamstrings, butt and lower back. Grab onto a barbell with both hands using an overhand grip, stand up straight with your hands and feet shoulder width apart.

Be careful and try not to hunch your back. Keep your back fairly straight throughout the exercise.

7. Lying Or Seated Leg Curls:

For leg curls, you can use either a seated or lying down hamstring machine. This exercise helps develop the hamstrings, which are very important for having a nice butt and developing muscles used with other butt exercises. Concentrate on using a full range of motion.

8. Wall Squats:

For the most part wall squats work primarily the same muscles as traditional barbell squats do. It helps to increase leg muscle strength and create an isometric contraction on your erector spinae to help strengthen your back.

It's also a great exercise for stabilizing the knee joints and the trunk.

9. Back Extensions:

This is an excellent exercise for your lower back, butt and hamstrings. Butt toning exercises such as this are preferred over lower back machines because there is far less compression on your spine.

After a few workouts, when the exercise becomes easier, hold a weight plate across your chest to increase resistance.

To have a perfectly shaped and firm butt you need to do the best butt exercises, be consistent and maintain proper eating habits.

10. Proper Nutrition:

Obviously this isn’t an exercise but it is just as important as the best butt exercises. Without it you will not achieve your fitness or anti aging goals.
