It doesn't have to be a difficult process, however you need to have a clearly thought out plan.

  1. Strengthen your core. Work your abs like other muscles. Give them time to recover.

  2. Stretch light before your workout and after you do a short warm-up. Keep your more intense and longer stretches for after you finish.

  3. Keep your weight workouts to a maximum of an hour. After that your body start to break down muscle protein for energy.

  4. Dumbbells, barbells and machines are all important when it comes to weight lifting and building muscle. Keep changing up the equipment you are using every few weeks. But make sure it's a mixture for all workouts.

  5. Do not overlook Fitness Training Tips such as replacing lost nutrients during your workout.

  6. What you wear on your feet makes a difference. Ensure your shoes are big enough and comfortable. If not you may end up with many foot issues that will bring your progress to a halt. This includes fallen arches, hooked toes, bunions, etc.

  7. Stop making excuses. Start working out and be consistent or you will never reach any of your goals. There is no tomorrow in fitness!

  8. This is one of the better known fitness training tips in body building. Count reps backwards. Instead of counting 1,2,3 etc. start at the number you are aiming for. If you aim for 10 then you would count 10,9,8, etc.

  9. Don't avoid certain exercises just because you don't like them. Most weight lifting exercises work great.

  10. Don't take any pain medication after your workout. They will prevent your muscles from making gains.

  11. Record everything you do in the gym every workout! Exercises, reps, sets, etc. It will motivate you.

  12. Use proper breathing techniques during every rep.

  13. If you are sick with a cold or the flu…don't exercise.

  14. Weight belts are useless for everything except your heaviest lifts such as squats, deadlifts, etc.

  15. As you get older you need to work each muscle group less during a single workout but more often during the week. Instead of one day devoted to chest you would do 1 or 2 chest exercises 2 – 3 times per week.

  16. Always give the same attention to opposing muscle groups. Biceps and triceps, back and chest, quads and hamstrings to name a few.
