Home Fitness Training Benefits And Downfalls

There are many reasons that home fitness training may be for you and a gym isn't.

You have to weigh your options carefully when deciding where you are going to exercise.

The majority of fitness training centers, gyms, etc. big and small all expect to stop using their facility and services soon after you sign your contract and start paying your membership dues.

Most start fitness training at a gym at the beginning of January each year then stop using their membership within a couple of months, even though they are still paying monthly dues for the rest of the year.

If you tend to do this year after year, then you should look at doing your fitness training at home.

Initially, you may decide that "this is the year" and get excited about getting in shape, losing weight, building muscle, improving your fitness level and health or whatever your specific goals may be, but you quickly give up.

Some reasons for doing your fitness training at home include:

  • No motivation to get to a fitness centre

  • Since so many people join the gym at the same time it becomes too crowded. You spend the little time you have waiting to use equipment

  • You don't have enough knowledge about fitness training and the benefits a gym has over home fitness training to be able to see results

  • The gym may be too far from where you live or work. Keep in mind the time it takes to get there. If you spend an extra 30 minutes or more driving to the gym, you'll give it up quick

Home Fitness Training vs. The Gym

1: Most people quit going within a couple of months of joining a gym but still keep paying because of the contract they've signed.

Fitness centers have come to expect this and prefer it because there is less wear and tear on their equipment but they are still raking in profits.

2: Fitness centers aren't the healthiest places due to the high amount of bacteria on the equipment. You should never use a shower at any gym unless you wear flip-flops with a thick bottom. Shower when you get home.

Researchers have found some quite interesting bacteria in random checks of even the cleanest gyms. Don't use the towels gyms provide. You don't know what their washing procedure is, so don’t take a chance.

3: Once you sign a fitness center contract you'll have a tough time canceling. They want you to sign up then stop using their facility, they don't want you to stop paying your dues.

4: With home fitness training you won't have to worry about being pressured into signing up for services that you don't need or want.

5: Some fitness centers don't spend enough time or money maintaining their equipment. Parts on a lot of commercial equipment will wear out over time. If they aren't properly maintained they can cause an accident.

6: At home you don't have to worry about the lock on your locker being broken off while you're exercising and someone stealing all your stuff. It happens a lot.

If something is stolen it's not the gyms responsibility. There is no way they can keep their eyes on everyone in every area of the gym. Anything can get stolen if you’re not careful, your wallet, purse, cell phone, gym bag, clothes, car & house keys and anything else you have when you enter.

You have to think carefully before deciding for home fitness training or signing a fitness center contract. Take your time and ask questions because with either option you’re going to be spending money.
